Intelligent automation and AI consultancy for established businesses
Work that should run itself, made to run itself.
Your team spends its days on quoting, scheduling, reporting and chasing that no longer needs a person. We find what is not working first, design a workable process, then bring in the right automation and the right AI. Fixed fee. Measured from day one.

What intelligent automation is, and why it comes first
Most of the worst bottlenecks in an established business are not AI problems. They are rules problems. Something happens, and a person has to notice it, act on it, and tell someone else. Intelligent automation is that chain, made to run itself.
When X happens, Y runs, and the right people are told
An automation watches for a trigger, does the routine steps in the right order, and notifies the people who need to know. No one waits, no one re-keys, nothing is forgotten on a Friday afternoon.
A clear example
A new customer order arrives by email. Today, someone reads it, types it into the system, emails a confirmation, adds it to the schedule and tells the team. Automated: the order is logged the moment it lands, the confirmation goes out, the job is scheduled, and the operations lead gets one message with one button. Same result, no one touched it, and it happened in under a minute.
If a step in your business is "someone has to remember to do this", it is a candidate for automation.
Then the right AI, in the right place
Where the work is reading a messy email, drafting a report or deciding what happens next, AI can now do far more than a first pass. It can run the whole step. We start with your person checking every output, because the cost of a wrong answer is yours. As accuracy is proven, the checks move to exceptions only.
The right tool for a real problem
We understand the business challenge first, then match it to the right AI. Off the shelf where it fits, built where it does not. Never the other way round.
In the hands of your people
Where the win is your team using AI well, we put it in their hands with clear guidance, a one-page rule for what it may touch, and training so it is used profitably, not experimentally.
Built into the workflow
Where the win is speed, we build AI into the automated process at the exact step it earns its place, so value shows up in days, not quarters.
Often it is a combination. We work out which with you, based on where your team is at and where the fastest value is.
Enterprise knowledge, for businesses that are not enterprises
The method behind this work was learned inside some of the world's largest organisations, and refined with mid-sized businesses. It is the same rigour a big consultancy brings: diagnose before you prescribe, design the process, then choose the tool.
Established businesses outside the enterprise world rarely get that. A big consultancy is hard to justify at your scale. A software vendor sells you a tool before the problem is defined. Shift Engine AI exists to fill that gap: the same method, a fraction of the overhead, and a fixed fee agreed in writing.
How an engagement runs
We never start with a tool. We start with what is not working.
Find what is not working
We map where your team's time goes, which steps break or wait, and what that costs you per year. In writing.
Design a workable process
One process, redesigned so it can run itself. When X happens, Y runs, and the right people are told.
Bring in the right automation and AI
Built, tested with your team, connected to your systems, handed over with training, and measured from day one.
Your time
One named person. One hour a week. That is the entire commitment on your side.
Scheduling
Weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Sessions never collide with your working day.
Your cost
Fixed fee, written scope. Agreed before any work begins. No day rates.
Your proof
Measured from day one. Every engagement ends with a result you can point to.
What we stand for
Six rules every engagement runs on. They are why the work gets used instead of shelved.
The industries we currently support
The method is the same everywhere. The processes that leak the most hours are not, so each industry has its own page with its own worked example.
Financial advisers
Advice and wealth firms where report drafting and client admin sit with the most expensive people.

Precision manufacturing and fabrication firms where estimating and quality paperwork depend on two people.
See the manufacturers pageFreight forwarders
Independent forwarders and customs brokers where the quote is the sale and the paperwork is re-keyed.

Independent UK research, not vendor claims.
54% of UK SMEs now actively use AI, up from 25% in 2024. The firms that pull ahead will not be the ones with the biggest teams. British Chambers of Commerce and University of Essex, Future of Work Report, March 2026.
Two ways to start
Each ends with something you keep, whether or not we work together again.

A message from the founder
Hello there, thanks for checking us out. My name is Isaac, and I am the founder of Shift Engine AI. I launched this business to serve established businesses that like the sound of AI but do not know where to start.
Our team brings a decade of experience working with organisations at every growth stage, first on intelligent process automation, and in the last few years on AI adoption alongside it.
Working with many business leaders, we have watched the same problem repeat. Leaders like the sound of AI, so they buy whichever tool jumps out at them, without a proper diagnosis of what the business needs. Just as often, they forget that intelligent automation matters as much as generative AI. AI can read emails, draft documents, send replies, even make calls. But it needs a solid workflow, configured intelligently, for a business process to run smoothly.
When the two are paired well, we have seen the same results again and again: better client retention, healthier margins, growth without extra headcount, and, dare we say it, happier employees.
So reach out directly. What is the number one challenge in your business right now? We are confident we can help you move in the right direction, with clear guidance on your processes and the right combination of intelligent automation and AI.

Fair questions, straight answers
What is the difference between automation and AI, and which do we need?
Is this too expensive for a business our size?
We are not a tech company. Does this apply to us?
How much of our time does this take?
Will this put my team's jobs at risk?
What happens on the 15-minute call?
Fifteen minutes. One specific opportunity.
You leave knowing something concrete about what is not working and what it costs, whether or not we ever work together.
